ArchPed teaches
a way of thinking to kids!
Our architecture workshops for children are designed to enhance their creativity, encourage them to explore their relationship with space, and actively engage them in the design process. In these workshops, children learn through play while discovering fundamental architectural concepts.

Workshops

''How was architecture born?'' While the children are sitting around the table, they will learn how primitive people lived before architecture, before settling down, and tent designs that differed according to geography on a previously prepared world map. (Igloo, yurt, etc.) and they will experience this scenario in a three-dimensional (3D) model environment. Workshop materials: Wooden sticks, craft paper, A4 paper, cardboard, fabric, clay, scissors, stencil, colored crayons.

''Vernacular Architecture'' Where is the first settlement in Turkey? Where is Çatalhöyük? What is the plan system? What material is it made of? What is adobe? We will design our own city with rammed earth. Workshop materials: Soil, sand, wooden mold, wooden compression tool, pestle, natural pigments, A4 paper.

''Learning to Draw Plan'' We learn to draw plans by calculating with games and squares. We design the interior of the house we designed with our two-dimensional furnishings. (Bedroom, kitchen, living room etc.) We provide three-dimensional thinking by making the final model. Section drawing, flat design and model making will be developed according to the age average.

''Sustainable House Design'' What is sustainable living? How can we recycle our waste? How can we harness wind and solar energy? How can we collect and use rainwater? Can we create a green roof for our house? Should we grow fruits and vegetables in the homes we design? Let’s explore Eco-architecture together! (Students bring organic waste they have collected at home.)

''Treehouse Design'' Children will learn about sustainable materials, basic construction techniques, and how to incorporate eco-friendly elements like green roofs and rainwater collection. Through hands-on activities, teamwork, and imagination, kids will create unique treehouse models while exploring the principles of eco-architecture. Let’s build a dream treehouse together! 🌿🏡✨

''Skyscaper Design'' In this exciting workshop, children will explore the art and science of designing skyscrapers! They will learn about the structural principles, sustainability features, and creative architectural elements that make modern skyscrapers stand tall. Using hands-on materials, kids will sketch, model, and build their own miniature skyscrapers while discovering how to incorporate green technology, wind resistance, and energy efficiency into their designs.

''Re-design Istanbul's House'' In this hands-on workshop, children will first recreate the architectural plans of Beyoğlu’s historic houses, carefully analyzing their original layouts and unique design elements. Through sketching, model-making, and creative discussions, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for Beyoğlu’s architectural heritage.

''House Section Mock-up'' In this interactive workshop, children will explore the interior structure of a house by creating detailed sectional drawings and models. They will learn how different spaces connect, understand floor plans, and design functional interiors. After establishing the house layout, they will furnish the spaces by selecting and arranging furniture to create comfortable and aesthetically pleasing interiors. Let’s design and furnish the perfect home!

''Who is Mimar Sinan? Bridge Design.'' In this creative workshop, inspired by the genius of Mimar Sinan, children will learn about the art of designing bridges. They will explore the engineering and aesthetic principles behind Sinan's iconic bridges, understanding how they blend functionality with beauty. Using hands-on materials, they will design their own bridges, experimenting with different shapes, materials, and techniques. Let’s build bridges that connect the past and the future!

Design the City of Your Dreams! Students imagine and create their own dream city, exploring what makes a place livable, sustainable, and meaningful.

Wooden Structure Students explore basic construction techniques by building small-scale structures with wooden sticks and connectors, learning about balance, stability, and spatial logic through hands-on making.
