Edible Garden In Kindergarten, Istanbul

The project is located in the hearth of Istanbul. The city has lack of green spaces. People spend their time only in the apartment blocks made by concrete and steel. It has been observed that

learning processes increase in places where children are in contact with nature, pedagogically and

architecturally. Children explore and learn outdoors, this is why the design of schools and

classrooms are so important. Such as the location of the windows, the colours of the space, the

material used. We designed the garden of kindergarten which was unused place. We designed

the edible garden with the children and gave them their first responsibility thanks to the seasonal

seedlings they plant with their own hands. We took the promise that they will take care of their

gardens after us. We delivered the edible garden with 110 winter vegetable seedlings, which we

designed and implemented, to the Ortaköy Zübeyde Hanım kindergarten.
